Kilbrenan Church (Gweeshadan Old Church)

Located in the southeast corner of the Gweeshadan graveyard—on slightly elevated ground-- is the site of the old Gweeshadan church. All that remains of the church is a 5 meter stretch of the south wall. A splayed feature, near the western end of the south wall, suggests that a window was once present in the wall.

The site was simply labelled “church” in the 1838 OS map. However, on the 1929 edition—for unknown reasons—it was labelled “Kilbrenan church.”
