Cloghannageeragh Enclosure (Doonamona)

On a site overlooking Doonamona castle, from a high ridge to the east, lies well-defined remains of what looks to be a ringfort. The high ridges that overlook the site from the south-west and the east now support improved pasture and cattle grazing (Michigan State University, 2009-- Cloghannageeragh).

Earthwork (Possible Ringfort)

“The term ‘earthwork’ is used in archaeology to describe any monument or feature of man-made origin that cannot be further categorized without excavation. It can also be applied to sites that have been levelled before inspection”—Michigan State University, 2009, Earthwork.

There is a particular earthwork, located just above the wetland and behind the castle at Doonamona, that appears to have been a ringfort. However, this cannot be determined without excavation.
